Hello fellow adult education advocates!

I hope your New Year is starting off on a safe and healthy note. I wanted
to share two important updates regarding the recently-passed Digital
Equity Act.
As you know, this landmark legislation was part of the big
infrastructure bill that Congress passed in November 2021.

  1. My colleague Caroline Treschitta and I are presenting a webinar on the
Digital Equity Act for adult educators on the LINCS website on January 11 *
    at
3:00 p.m. Eastern*. Please feel free to share the registration link
    https://air-org.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJMucu2upjguE9zL7q_CEz4eKi28J7tVNtt0
    with
    adult educators in your network.

  2. National Skills Coalition is encouraging adult education leaders to
submit comments in response to the Commerce Department's Request for
    Comments
    https://ntia.gov/other-publication/2022/request-comment-broadband-programs-bipartisan-infrastructure-law
    regarding
the first element of the Digital Equity Act -- the forthcoming state
Digital Equity Planning Grants and planning process. For example, we
recommend telling Commerce to tell state governor's offices to include
adult education officials in the state planning process from the very
    beginning
. If you are interested in seeing template comments from NSC,
please feel free to e-mail me
. *Deadline for submitting comments is
    February 4, 2022. *

If you are engaging in digital literacy or digital equity work, I'd love to
hear from you! I'm always looking for innovative state examples to share in
my public presentations and writings. Please feel free to be in touch
anytime.

Thank you for all that you do to make sure that adult learners are at the
center of digital equity efforts.

-Amanda
